Display Settings

You should select the screen size and bit depth (16 bit or 32 bit) that best suits your video card's 3D hardware.

For example: an ATI Rage Pro (LT) using utah-glx runs well at 800x600 16bit; an NVIDIA TNT, Matrox G400 or newer can handle 1024x768 32bit or better.

To see your current settings, press the button (disabled if mode not suitable).

Valid display modes must be correctly listed in your XF86Config file, which must also include the correct options to enable switching bit depth, if required. AlteredWorlds cannot provide technical support for setup issues relating to XFree86 configuration - sorry.<Top of Page>

Sound Settings

Play Game Effects - gun firing, explosions, win & lose sounds when playing the SaverGame™ - check ON or OFF, plus one of the following:

*No Music
*Game Music (looped track 'gnats.wav')
*WAV or MP3 file of your choice
*Play Audio CD plays any Audio CD present in your CD drive. You may select the correct drive from the list if your system has more than one CD drive installed.

In the registered version, you can specify your own player for any file type by clicking the '.' button. In some cases Game Effects must be turned OFF for correct operation with an external (3rd party) sound player. We hope you enjoy the included original sounds - beachTrack.mp3! <Top of Page>

AlteredSaver Content

When connected to the Internet, press 'Content?'. After a brief delay you'll be show a list of all available new AlteredSaver content.

Select a scene and press 'Download!'. If all goes well, the progress indicator and download speed will be updated as shown below.

'Stop' will halt the download - it can be resumed later without loss of data.
When the download finishes, the scene is available for viewing - select it using the 'Saver' page.

If you use an HTTP Proxy, the correct settings must be added to the saver config file using a text editor. Add a new line, omitting quotes: 'httpProxy=www.serverName.com:port'
(':port' is optional, defaulting to :80).
